Shop IEC Power Cables

IEC cables are the standard for connecting power supply to electrical devices up to 250 volts. IEC power cords are most often used for connecting computers to a power source, with a standard set of inlets and country-specific cables. Designing these to plug-in separately rather than designing them into the computer, UPS, or other device allows the manufacturer to build the units all at once and ship them to each country with their specific power cord.

4Cabling stocks a large range of IEC cables that meet the strictest standards for quality control. Whether you need one IEC power cable or hundreds, we're sure to have them in stock, including the popular IEC C7 power cable and IEC C13 power cable.

IEC Cable Frequently Asked Questions

What is an IEC cable?

An IEC cable is a type of power cord used to connect electrical devices to a power source. IEC cables are suitable for devices that operate on up to 250V and are used worldwide due to their universal connectors.

What does IEC cable stand for?

IEC cables are named for conforming to the standards of the organisation that developed them, the International Electrotechnical Commission. In addition to the IEC cable, they are responsible for developing international standards for a wide range of electrical equipment.

Are all IEC cables the same?

All IEC power cords feature the same type of plug, but there are notable differences between different variants. IEC cables can be different shapes, sizes, thicknesses and colours depending on the type of equipment they have been designed for. For example, the IEC C13 power cable is most commonly used for connecting computer and server equipment.

What is the difference between an IEC and a NEMA cable?

NEMA and IEC power cables differ in their geographic usage and design standards. NEMA, short for National Electrical Manufacturers’ Association, is a type of cable used mainly in North America, with connectors and designs that fit their standards. IEC cables, on the other hand, are a more universal fit, making them suitable for use with a large number of international devices.
