Fibre Optic Patch Panels & FOBOTs

Fibre optic patch panels and Fibre Optic Break Out Trays (FOBOTs) are important components in organising the cabling in your fibre network. FOBOTs and fibre patch panels help to ensure that your network stays well organised and reliable, as well as increasing its performance.

Fibre optic patch panels provide a centralised location in your network for all the fibre cable routes to pass through. They host and protect the fibre optic cables and their respective connections, allowing for easy access and management to cabling for testing purposes. FOBOTs are also used to secure and organise multiple fibre optic connections within your network.

4 Cabling offers a range of high quality fibre patch panels to assist with cable management. Our fibre optic and FOBOT patch panels are made to fit a 19 inch standard rack mount, meaning they can be mounted in any industry standard server rack.

Our stock of fibre optic patch panels íncludes a variety of configurations. Our FOBOT patch panels range in size from 2 port to 96 port, allowing you to choose the right configuration for your network. Popular sizes of FOBOT carried by 4 Cabling include:

  • 12 port FOBOTs
  • 24 port FOBOTs
  • 48 port FOBOTs

4 Cabling’s range of fibre optic patch panels and FOBOTs are ideal for organising or expanding your network setup. If you have any queries about FOBOTs or fibre patch panels, contact us for tailored advice on the best fibre optic solution for your network.

Fibre FOBOT Frequently Asked Questions

What is the meaning of FOBOT?

FOBOT stands for Fibre Optic Break Out Tray. FOBOTs allow you to splice, terminate and patch optical ports to transmission equipment in a fibre optic network. They are made from either metal or plastic, protecting your optical fibres and improving the strength of their connections.

What is the difference between a FOBOT and fibre patch panel?

While they may look similar, a FOBOT is more advanced than a fibre optic patch panel. The fibre patch panel may only feature simple holes where the cables are terminated, whereas a FOBOT comes with 12-core fibre ready for patching.
